Baize has many uses, one customer shared with us how she used it to line a knife compartment in her kitchen drawer.
Customer Creativity
One of the joys of selling baize, is hearing from our creative customers, about how they have made use of it in projects, great and small.
Baize and Wood?
We’ve covered before how baize makes an ideal lining material for wooden boxes or as a luxury covering for tables. Lining wooden kitchen drawers with baize is another great use for this fabulous fabric.
Protecting Knives and Drawers
We were pleased to hear how one of customers, had made use of baize, to line a kitchen drawer of hers. She doesn’t have space in her kitchen for a dedicated knife rack or knife block, but wanted to protect her knives.
Using baize in this way, makes perfect sense. The sharp edges are prevented from damaging the inside of the drawer, also the baize helps to protect the edges becoming dull.
Sound Reduction
Another advantage of using baize in kitchen drawers is that it can help cushion cutlery and stop it sliding about. If you don’t have “soft close” drawers or live with heavy handed people, a slammed drawer can be a jarring experience. Baize can help mute the sound of cutlery in drawers. It has been used extensively for sound proofing purposes in the past, particularly on doors.
