Description
Penhallow’s Coastal Collection – Luxury Card Table Cloths
The Penhallow’s Coastal Collection is a beautiful, modern range of luxury card table cloths. Specifically, we’ve used extra special British baize that’s 95% Merino wool. Simon uses only top-quality British baize with 95% merino wool, and every cloth is skilfully hand made in our countryside workshop just outside of Devizes.
Each luxury card table cloth in this collection is sized generously to 42 inches / 108cm square. The baize is 95% merino wool and 5% nylon. You can read about how Simon Lucas makes the baize bridge cloths on our product insights.
Inspired by the Colours of Coastal Cornwall
Inspired by the light and colours of Cornwall, we’ve paired ribbons and velvets to shimmer and reflect the light. Generously sized at 108cm square, the Penhallow’s Collection luxury table cloths are the largest baize cloths in our range. Furthermore, all the Penhallow’s cloths are beautifully packaged in handmade presentation boxes.
Penhallow’s Table Cloths
Penhallow is the maiden name of Baize and Wool’s co-founder, Andrea. It is a surname that originates from Cornwall near St Agnes. We decided to choose this name due to its relative rarity. A name that we felt that captured the essence of those products in our collections that were that bit extra special.
The Penhallow’s Coastal Collection table cloths can be handmade to measure. Simon uses the finest heritage Baize and luxury ribbons to create these elegant cloths.
Why is Baize Used for Card Tablecloths?
Traditionally used as a card play surface, baize provides the optimum amount of friction and give, with green being the traditional colour.
Baize, Not Felt
The fabric we use for all our baize cloths is top-quality British-made baize which is 95% merino wool and 5% nylon.
There is a lot of confusion about the difference between baize and felt. This isn’t surprising when you search online and find many suppliers describing felt as baize, or a fabric as ‘baize felt’ or ‘felt baize’. It’s important to know whether you’re buying baize or felt, because the two fabrics are very different. To read more about the differences be sure to check out our article Baize or Felt?
